Who is NHS Alliance?
Though NHS Alliance represents the majority of Primary Care Trusts, many of its members are individual members - GPs, nurses, PAMs, managers and lay board members. Some Strategic Health Authorities are members and also a wide variety of organisations involved in primary care such as the Royal College of Nursing, Community Practitioners and Health Visitors Association, National Association of Non Principals, the British Dental Association and the Primary Care Pharmacists Association.
At the centre, the daily work of NHS Alliance is done by its executive officers supported by the national executive. These are supported by a number of networks and advisory groups. Currently there are national groups and support networks for PCT chief executives, PCT chairs and non-execs, PCT PEC chairs, PCT nurses, PCT allied professionals, PCT clinical governance leads and PCT directors of public health. Strategy in terms of internal and external policy has always been owned by the wider membership with input from the national executive and advisory groups. Policy days open to all members are held twice a year.
