Dr Ken Aswani has been a GP for over 19 years in a large group practice in Leytonstone, Waltham Forest.  He is Chair of the Professional Executive Committee(PEC) for Waltham Forest PCT and leads on the improvement of clinical services for chronic diseases & diabetes in Waltham Forest.

From 1999 - 2001 Dr Aswani was Chair of the Wathamstow & Leytonstone PCG, and from 2001 - 2003 he was Chair of the Professional Executive Committee for Walthamstow, Leyton & Leytonstone PCT.

He is also Caldicott Guardian for the PCT, the primary purpose of which is to protect patient confidentiality .

Since September 2003, Dr Ken Aswani has been the national lead for the NHS Alliance PEC chair network.  He has a special interest in diabetes and is also diabetes lead for the NHS Alliance.

Dr Aswani is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and serves as a key member on the North East London Faculty Board, which promotes educational activities amongst GPs and  been on a number of national working groups particularly promoting professionals working together to improve patient care .

Dr Aswani Is chair of the London PEC Chair Network.
