Yvonne Sawbridge
Yvonne has over 25 years experience in the NHS in a variety of settings – both Acute and Community Trusts, and within a Family Health Services Authority and District Health Authority.
She qualified as a Health Visitor in 1986 and worked in both inner city and rural areas.
Yvonne worked as a lecturer in a College of Further Education for a year. Progressing to locality manager and then held a variety of managerial posts, not all of them in nursing. The most unusual one was as Directorate Manager of Pathology services in City Hospital, Birmingham.
Yvonne became Head of Nursing (Medicine) at Heartlands & Solihull NHS Trust, which reaffirmed her love of nursing.
Yvonne returned to primary care in September 2001, as Director of Nursing. Her roles and responsibilities changed numerous times within that post. She moved to Solihull Care Trust and became Director of Commissioning & Redesign and when the reorganisation began secured her current post of Director of Quality & Nursing & Exec Nurse. Yvonne is responsible for quality, children, cancer and end of life care. Her other role also includes quality of patient experience and finding ways to ensure this happens.
Yvonne was appointed the NHS Alliance Nurse Lead in March 2004, and is currently co- Vice-Chair.
