Reputation matters: Providing information to enable choice and to drive service improvement

Start Date:      28/10/2009
Duration:
Description:     * Discounted rate available for NHS Alliance members *

We are pleased to offer discounted rates to NHS Alliance members at this conference, which will take a practical look at how to reach patients effectively and how to use the information gained from patients to develop services. For further information and to book your place please visit our website at http://www.kingsfund.org.uk/learn/conferences_and_seminars/reputation_matters.html

Why this conference?
The NHS Constitution sets out patients’ right to make choices about their NHS care and also their right to receive information to support those choices. Since April 2009, patients who are referred for secondary care have had the legal right to choose who provides that care. All PCTs are required to publicise, and promote awareness of, information on secondary care providers to help patients to make those choices. Providers and commissioners need to understand how to communicate information to patients effectively. It is also important that they understand how to collect information on patient satisfaction to assess services and drive improvements in care

This conference will:

• share current thinking on how information should be communicated to patients to enable patient choice
• feature practical sessions on the different measures that can be used to collect information from patients, and explore how the results can be used in practice
• allow delegates to discuss and raise questions with experts on the key challenges in providing information for choice.

Speakers will include the following.

• Dr Neil Bacon, Founder, I Want Great Care
• Dr Anna Dixon, Director of Policy, The King's Fund
• Anthony Marsh, Chief Executive, West Midlands Ambulance Trust
• Professor Martin Marshall, Director of Clinical Quality, The Health Foundation
• Jennie Negus, Deputy Director of Nursing, The Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,
• The Picker Institute Europe
