Clincial Commissioning in Action

Released: 11/08/2011

Calling all CCG Leaders

Clinical Commissioning in Action – Unleashing the power, the first independent annual conference for Clinical Commissioning Groups, will bring together all pathfinders to explore the obstacles, challenges and opportunities facing CCG leaders.

Organised by the NHS Alliance and the NAPC, with support from Capita, this national event will be held on 14 September in London and will have the presence of key speakers from government and the Department of Health.

The NHS Alliance and NAPC, the two main primary care membership organisations, have consistently supported the need for a new approach to commissioning. They are now joining forces through this conference to ensure that CCG leaders are fully heard and supported.

Dr Michael Dixon, chairman of the NHS Alliance, said: “This conference is the perfect opportunity for CCG leaders to get together to freely discuss the issues facing our future. The outcomes will be immediately relayed to government and the Department of Health to ensure that our message is heard so that clinical commissioning is enabled and supported to do the job that we all want it to do –to improve health services for all patients.”

Dr Johnny Marshall, Chairman of NAPC, said: “Both NAPC and NHSA have in the past and will in the future continue to work closely together on the implementation of the clinical commissioning agenda, a development paramount to both organisations and to the successful continuation of the NHS.”

The conference will have a closed session in the morning for CCG pathfinders only. The key messages from this session will then be fed back directly to afternoon speakers, including Andrew Lansley, the Secretary of State for Health; a Senior Cabinet Minister; the National Commissioning Board; Monitor, and the Department of Health.

A report will also be sent to Primary Care Trust clusters, Strategic Health Authorities, media, constituent practices/local people and our future partners in local authorities/national commissioning.

This is a free event by invitation only and spaces are limited. Early registration by CCG leaders is advisable.

Ends.
