New NHS Alliance and ITN Productions launch 'In Search of Wellness'

THE NEW NHS ALLIANCE LAUNCHES ‘IN SEARCH OF WELLNESS’, A COLLABORATION WITH ITN PRODUCTIONS
The New NHS Alliance and ITN Productions have launched ‘In Search of Wellness,’ a news and current affairsstyle programme which explores why healthcare needs to be seen as part of the solution, not the only solution.
There is outstanding work underway to modernise health care systems. . ‘In Search of Wellness’ explores some of the pioneering work of those, both within and around the health and social care sectors, who are innovating to improve the nation’s health and wellbeing.
A new paradigm of how to address health inequalities is needed. This programme explains some of the pioneering work of New NHS Alliance to develop practice around Health Creation – how practising your ‘5 a day’ and changing the way we work using the strengths of people and communities can improve our health and wellbeing. We hear from New NHS Alliance Chair Heather Henry and also see how the 5 health creating practices have worked for The Lostock Community in Greater Manchester.
‘In Search of Wellness’ also looks at innovations across the healthcare sector. It explores the work of organisations that are drawing on up-to-the minute knowledge and technologies to improve healthcare and patient experience; digital solutions to transform mental health services, finding cures for diseases associated with ageing and how cell and gene therapy are a revelation in medicine.
Drawing upon ITN’s 60-year heritage and expertise in storytelling, presented by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky the news-style piece combines key interviews, case studies and sponsored stories from BristolMyers Suibb, Cell & Gene Therapy Catapult, Firza, Lewy Body Society, Methuselah Health UK Limited, NAPP, Novartis, Otsuka Health Solutions with Mersey NHS Foundation Trust and Peacock Medical Group.
Merron Simpson, Chief Executive, New NHS Alliance said: “I always enjoy hearing about the pioneering work of our industry partners and to see the many ways in which the health sector is changing. This year I’m struck by the level of sophistication of some of our partners’ work and also improvements in the patient experience”
Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “ITN Productions has been delighted to partner with the new NHS Alliance to create ‘In Search of Wellness’. We hope this programme will help to inform and enlighten viewers of the need to look at healthcare being seen as part of the solution, not the only solution. We are extremely pleased with how this programme brings to life those revolutionising the diagnosis, treatment and research of many severe diseases.”
